Watch of The Lord

“What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?  Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40-41)

The “Hidden Ones” is a grassroots movement to establish a – “Watch of the Lord” – that will connect 83 counties in day and night 24/7 prayer.  There is no human remedy for the challenges we are facing as a nation.  We need Divine intervention to permeate our culture.  Prayer and establishing a “Watch of the Lord” is the answer that is historically proven.  Jesus said His house shall be called a house of prayer (Matthew 21:13).  Through the prayer watch a shield of protection will cover the state and a harvest net cast in for souls.  The Lord honors and blesses unified one accord prayer.

POINT TO PONDER:  “If 50 unknown Moravians in Herrnhutt, Germany ignited a 100 year nonstop 24/7 prayer movement that fathered the modern day missions movement; led to the “Great Awakenings” in England and America; influenced the writing of the U.S. Constitution…why not Michigan’s 83 counties?  Can 83 counties or 12 regions in our state find those 50 people?  Why not 100 – 500 – 1000 or even 10,000 individuals in Michigan’s hidden praying church? Can we build a “watch of the Lord” 24/7/365 in MI that will impact a nation?”  YES!

God will fill the slots with the “hidden ones” across Michigan.  There are numerous prayer groups across Michigan who diligently pray.  God has a faithful praying remnant and will grow a 24/7 prayer supernaturally that will connect 12 regions and 83 counties.

There will be structure with no one church stream, ministry or individual controlling it…but we will allow Christ to be the head of His body.  There are standards but we will allow each member of the body of Christ to maintain its unique identity and assignment.  Prayer guides will be provided that will cover all the cultural gateways of society if needed.  There is freedom to pray as you choose and wait on the direction of God. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you.

The watch is made up of desperate individuals who see the need of the hour we are in.  It truly is a “radical remnant” that will personally benefit by setting a watch time aside to seek and hear the Lord’s voice.  Our personal vision and assignments will be blessed in the process as well as advancing the Kingdom of God on a state level.  You are being called!

“I will restore the ancient tool, the Watch of the Lord, that has been used and will be used again to change the expression of Christianity across the face of the earth.” – Jim Goll

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It will be a co-laboring effort with individuals, ministries, houses of prayer, and churches connecting and networking in prayer in the entire state who will partner in the watch. The state of Michigan has been divided into 12 regions each comprised of various counties.  We are asking pastors and ministry leaders to engage their sphere of influence to join the watch of the Lord.  Preach a message or teach on the importance of prayer and watching then enlist the faithful praying remnant.   They need your encouragement and will follow your direction.  This will include home prayer groups, shut inns, and those in nursing homes who have time to pray and make a difference.

1.      You would click on the region and county where you live and fill out some basic contact information. You may submit your name or initials.  For those who do not have internet access a contact person will be assigned that is relationally connected to obtain the information.

2.      Then select a designated time (1/2 or 1 Hour) that you would faithfully commit to on the watch calendar.  Start out with ½ hour at any designated time of your choice. Choose a time that you can faithfully keep.  There is a discipline  involved.  It will be posted on the website.

3.      Keep your watch time!  If you are not able to keep that time you need to assign another to stand in your place.  It is a matter of personal responsibility.  If the watchmen in the crow’s nest of the Titanic were more watchful the result would have been different. How many times have people fallen asleep when an enemy is approaching and ample warning not given?  You will be assured that across Michigan people are praying along with you as the watch grows in 83 counties.

4.      If you need to change or increase your watch time go to the website to make changes.  Some will take times on a daily basis.

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.  For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.  Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

WHAT DO I DO ON A WATCH?

“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

First of all, all believers are called to watch.  This is not a special ministry given to a few. If the President of the United States asked you to meet with him and share what is on your heart; or to develop a more personal relationship – would you do it?  What about the King of Kings and moral Governor of the universe?  Time is our most valuable resource!  Eternity hangs in the balance and we will give an account…this is quite sobering.

So, what do I do on a watch?  Seek the Lord and be still; praise and worship Him; give Him thanks; meditate on the Word; listen for warnings and be open to stand in the gap for what God gives you. Pray with expectation hearing from God and declare over your region, state and nation the promises of God.  Inquire of Him like David always seeking counsel of the Lord.  Listen by quieting yourself and blocking out distractions.  Pray for strength against temptation and cover your home and family with the promises of God.

Use the “list” prayer guides on this website that cover Michigan and the nation’s cultural gateways.  Spontaneously pray or develop your own plan. Utilize the “Breastplate  Prayer” that is spreading across Michigan (thanks to Bishop Larry Jackson) on the home page of this website to pray for the lost.  You may want to shout, declare and prophesy over the region you are called to occupy.  You may enter into an intercessory warfare and instructed to give a warning to those around you.  Just trust that God will be faithful as you are faithful in giving your time to Him.

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. (Mark 13:32-33)

When God’s people within a state or nation can agree to come together and pray in unity…hidden secrets can be revealed that will set people and regions free.  The time you take before the Lord could save a life, impact a region, help to save a nation.  What an awesome opportunity given to each one of us.

“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

WHAT IS A BIBLICAL WATCH?

It is a period of the night (and day), in which one person or one set of persons stand as sentinels; or the time from one relief of sentinels to another. This period among the Israelites, seems to have been originally 6 four hour watches (Hebrew Calendar), but was afterwards three hours (Roman Calendar), – there were four watches during the night and 4 during the day. Hence we read in Scripture of the morning watch, and of the second, third and fourth watch; the evening watch commencing at six o’clock, the second at nine, the third at twelve, and the fourth at three in the morning.

NOTE:  As the hidden ones in Michigan take their place we will start with ½ and 1 hour watches realizing others around the state are joining with us. Many will be compelled to stand in the gap and take full 3 hour watches.  The Lord will appoint those through His grace.  The Holy Spirit will grow the watch…without man’s effort.

“Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.” (Matthew 14:23-25)

“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.  And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.  But know this,  if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Luke 12:37-40)

“Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.” (Exodus 14:24-25)

The Day of the Watch Has Come! – James W. Goll

“I will restore the ancient tool, the Watch of the Lord, that has been used and will be used again to change the expression of Christianity across the face of the earth.”

Since God ignited my burden for the Watch of the Lord at Herrnhut, the site of the great Moravian prayer watch, it is no accident that He has sent me to draw from their deep pool of wisdom again and again along my journey. The Day of the Watch has come. The words of the Rev. John Greenfield, the great Moravian evangelist and author, ring as true today as they did 70 or more years ago: “Prayer always precedes Pentecost. The Book of Acts describes many outpourings of The Holy Spirit, but never apart from prayer. In our own day the great Welsh and Korean revivals were preceded by months, if not years, of importunate and united praying. Hence the supreme importance of the prayer meeting, for it is ‘the power-house of the Church.'” Years ago, the Lord told me, “I will restore Pentecost.” Many people think that is an odd or even heretical statement. “After all, Pentecost happened once and for all.” Since that time, I have discovered a way to describe this work of God: He is sending yet another Pentecost! The only way to spread fire is to catch fire! Theology never saved anyone – only a personal experience with a living Savior can do it. Theology never launched a worldwide revival. In every case, it took a fresh revelation of the living Savior to ignite the world with fire from Heaven.

D.L. Moody, one of America’s most revered evangelists and conservative church leaders had this to say about the Holy Spirit in one of the last sermons he preached in his life: “See how He came on the day of Pentecost! It is not carnal to pray that He may come again and that the place be shaken. I believe Pentecost was but a specimen day. I think the Church has made this woeful mistake that Pentecost was a miracle never to be repeated. I have thought too that Pentecost was a miracle that is not to be repeated. I believe now if we looked on Pentecost as a specimen day and began to pray, we should have the old Pentecostal fire here in Boston. “God is restoring the fire of the Holy Spirit to His people so we will restore the fire of prayer on His altar of incense, and release the glory of God on the earth!

The same God who engineered this miracle in Jerusalem and in Herrnhut in the 1700s appears determined to do the same across the earth in our day! God is not interested in mere “corporate assent” to the principle of revival – He demands personal surrender, commitment, and sold-out service in prayer accompanied by demonstrations of His mighty acts for His glory! When the people of God dare to surrender to the Holy Spirit of God and then live lives of continuous consecrated prayer, they will display an infectious joy that will draw the lost to them again and again in divine appointments of destiny.

God’s Intention Matthew Henry wrote, “When God intends great mercy for His people, the first thing He does is to set them a praying.” God intends to cover the earth with His glory and with a flood of mercy and grace. But first, God must wake His sleeping giant, the Church. We can no longer afford to hear the urgent word of the Lord and walk away passively. The call is the same regardless of what title or flavor adorns the sign over the door of our place of worship. Jesus warned us eleven times to “be on the watch, be on the alert, wake up, and watch out that no one deceives you.” To many of us have stopped listening and stopped caring. God is calling His watchmen – every Blood-washed saint and redeemed king and priest – in groups of twos or threes to come together on the wall. He is calling forth the ancient tools to bring salvation to our generation. Do you believe dead men’s bones can live again? I believe dead men’s bones will live again. Some see dry bones; I see an army! I believe that the same Spirit who kept the promises of God for generations in the past is waiting for us to enter into the Holy of Holies for our time and our generation!

On a Worldwide Scale God fully intends to do on a worldwide scale what He did more than 200 years ago. He is out to raise up a Church, a nation of kings and priests, whose determination is to know nothing among men save Jesus Christ and Him crucified, whose theology has become Christology, and whose creed was, in one word, the Cross. “The key to fulfillment and fruitfulness in your life is found in one word of eternal significance: “Yes.” Your commission is clear: As a king and priest cleansed by the Blood of Jesus, your lifelong calling is to offer the fire and incense of prayer, praise, worship, and intercession to the Most High God and to intercede on behalf of this lost and dying generation. Join me and hundreds of others in our weekly Global Prayer Storm efforts to win for the Lamb the rewards of His suffering. Yes, it is time to mount the Watch of the Lord. It is time to light the watch fires and restore the lost art of intercession – the ancient tool of the Lord – to the Church of the Lord. Let it increase and consume you and me for such a time as this!

A Prayer of Consecration:
Here I am, Lord. Let the fire of Your hot love burn on the altar of my heart. Let there be fire on my altar and may it never go out. Count me in. Sign me up as a watchman on your wall. Restore the lost art of intercession. Restore the power and the passion of the watch of the Lord. Use me in Your End Time Army and set me as an intercessor for Christ’s namesake. Amen.
